How The Training Process Works
Choose Your Course Select either the 40-hour Certification or 32-hour Recertification course based on your licensing status.
Register & Pay Online Securely complete your registration using a credit card.
Complete the Background Check All students must pass a TCEQ criminal background check prior to licensing.
Attend In-Person Training Participate in hands-on instruction using real backflow assemblies and testing equipment.
Take the Written Exam Complete the state-written exam at a TCEQ-approved community college or testing facility.
Course Information
The course fee includes all required books, instructional materials, training equipment, and hands-on instruction. There are no additional material or equipment fees charged by NAWSC.
No. All NAWSC courses are conducted in person to meet TCEQ requirements and ensure proper hands-on training.
Yes. The 40-hour Certification and 32-hour Recertification courses run concurrently each month at the same location.
Classes are currently offered once per month. Additional dates and locations may be added in the future.
Eligibility & Requirements
No prior experience is required for the 40-hour Certification course. The course is designed to prepare new testers for licensing.
No. All NAWSC courses are conducted in person to meet TCEQ requirements and ensure proper hands-on training.
Is the TCEQ license fee included in the course cost?
Exams & Licensing
No. The written exam is administered separately by TCEQ at approved community colleges or testing facilities after the course is completed.
If you do not pass the written exam, TCEQ will provide guidance on retesting. Course completion remains valid, but exam requirements are governed by TCEQ.
No. NAWSC provides state-approved training. Licenses are issued directly by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
